Devon Rex Cattery

About us

We live in Eskilstuna in Sweden and our family consists of Lotta, Janne, our son Felix and the five cats. Our cats have a way of controlling the family with their will and charm, rather than us controlling them. “We don’t own our Devon Rexes; they own us.”

How it began


When our housecats passed away, we decided not to have any more cats. We tried getting some lizards, but it was just not the same. Janne has asthma, so we started to look for a cat without too much coat. We heard about “the naked cat” – the Sphynx – and searched online to learn more. But instead we found the Devon Rex and fell in love.

We found two breeders that were expecting kittens, and we placed ourselves on the waiting lists. We ended up getting to kittens; one from each breeder. We became with Devon in December 2002, when Alfons and Imse moved in.

Alfon’s breeder asked us if we would consider letting the boys mate with some females before they were neutered, and we agreed. Suddenly, we entered a new world of cat shows and breeding.

About our cattery name

The name of our cattery – S*WitchElf Devons – is a combination of our first queens’ names. “Witch” is from S*LuckyStreet Bitchy Witch and “Elf” from S*IzaRex Titania (Titania being the queen of the elves in A Midsummer Night’s Dream).

The history of our
kitten’s name!

We are very fond of the Discworld book series written by the author Terry Pratchett. The Discworld is a world just like ours only different. We decided to name our future kittens from characters in the books.

We are very found of the breed Devon Rex and it is a pleasure to get the possibility to contribute so that other people may also have the privilege of being owned by a Devon or two!
